Atlanta is Georgia’s largest city and serves as the cultural and economic hub of the state. More than 6 million people reside in Atlanta. With diverse sectors in transportation, media, and technology, it ranks in the top twenty among world cities. Like any major city, there is an imbalance of social equality.

What Humanity Means to Me
“Humanity is having compassion for those who often get ignored. It’s treating others the way you would want to be treated. It’s being able to give back, not because you can, but because you want to. Kindness goes a long way and if we all took the opportunity to do something nice for someone else I think this world would be a much better place.” <3

What Humanity Means to Me
“Humanity, to me, is the ability to spread love. The ability to love and care for a stranger who may very well never be able to reciprocate the energy given. It’s the ability to look past judgement because for most of us we are only a couple rough patches away from being in the same position. Humanity is the ability to lead with love even in the toughest situations, for the greater good of mankind. LET’S GOOOOOOOOO!!!”

What Humanity Means to Me
"Humanity is living like you’re one bad day away from being on the receiving end of the same mercy and decency you give those that need yours. Treating the people we help like we’d want to be treated. Humanity is the feeling of completion when we live up to our fullest loving capacity as humans sharing this planet."

“Humanity demonstrates genuine empathy, mercy, dignity, care, respect and gratitude. By extending unconditional love to each and every living being on Earth. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”

What Humanity Means to Me
“It’s simple for me. I’m so, so blessed - I have solid friends and a loving family. A job I love, that keeps food on my table and clothes on my back. I have a coherent state of mind and a clean record of health. And at a drop of a dime any of that could be taken from me. I don’t for a second take that for granted. That though alone allows my heart to go out to anyone who may have fallen on hard times. Take a step back and put others before yourself. Really stop and put yourself in their shoes. HUMILITY and HUMANITY go hand in hand.”

What Humanity Means to Me
“By definition, “Humanity” just means a collective of human beings, regardless of sex, class and race. The action part - to show humanity - means being compassionate, sympathetic, or showing generous behavior, still regardless of sex, class and race. Because it’s not how we serve, but WHO we serve. For us, we choose to serve those who need it most. That’s our humanity. It’s really just that damn simple.”

"Growing up I’ve seen all forms of poverty and those images became valuable building blocks for my life. Giving back to the community is my way of showing respect to the people and situations that shaped me to be the man that I am. "

What Humanity Means to Me
When I think of humanity, I think of inclusion and acceptance. We are one human race. We make each other feel included, accepted and LOVED. It takes compassion to do this, and I believe that everyone is compassionate. I want to contribute to make this world a better place with one little act of kindness at a time.

What Humanity Means to Me
“How can we call ourselves humans if we choose to ignore the agony of those around us? The two things we often take for granted are mercy & grace. Humanity to me is imparting those things to others while spreading love unselfishly. Encouraging people in a positive way at a time in their life when they need it the most has been more of a blessing in my life than I have ever imagined. It causes reflection of humbleness & gratitude.”

Story Time Program

Project H.E.L.P. hosts story time at the Converse Library on the first and third Saturday of the month. Because the Converse area has a flourishing Latinx community, we have designated the first Saturday of the month as our Spanish Story Time.

These story times are a way to shine a light on the importance of literacy within our community and provide safe and educational fun for our youth.

Homework H.E.L.P.

There are few things in life more important than a good education. Project H.E.L.P. provides homework help every Thursday at the Converse Public Library.

This service comes at no cost to our community members, giving the students in our community the resources to be successful in their education.

What Humanity Means to Me
"Humanity & philanthropy truly mean everything to me. At my core, I consider myself a servant leader that gets fulfilled the most when I am being in the community giving my time and energy. I live by the Bible verse Proverbs 19:17 so it’s become not only my passion, but my calling. With being new to the Atlanta community, it’s my goal to continue this mission of serving. "

Eryn

Superpower
Thoughtfulness is my superpower! I have a high consideration for the needs of others and pay attention to small details that really make an impact. Being thoughtful allows me to build a foundation of inclusivity and trust with our community members and leaders. As a board member, I remind our team that it’s not about grand gestures but the small choices, our ability to listen and extend empathy that ultimately creates a positive ripple effect of change.
What Humanity Means to Me
"When I think about humanity, compassion and empathy come to mind. The ability to care about the well-being of a stranger. Giving back to the Atlanta community is important to me because, in a thriving city filled with seemingly limitless opportunities and advancement, it's easy to consume and take. Volunteering and serving others is an expression of my gratitude. I’m grateful for the opportunity to come alongside those in need because we are all deserving of help. "

Omar

Superpower
My superpower is tenacity! When challenges arise, I pride myself in the ability to remain determined. With each goal, I lay out a clear plan and try to anticipate the barriers that may occur. While not always successful, I continuously learn the importance of perseverance and hard work. This applies to every aspect in life including my contribution as a board member. I encourage and support our team through stressful situations and set-backs ultimately allowing us to triumph and serve those in the community despite the obstacles we may face.
